Theresa is a 28-year old, fun and adventure loving girl, who is crazy about the outdoors. She loves anywhere with fresh air and smiles. After living a very unsettled life, moving continuously since she was born, Theresa fell in love with Tasmania and has adopted it as her home. A perfect place for her with mountains, lots of coast, fresh air and many friendly faces. Theresa grew up moving between South Africa, Lesotho, Australia, England, Ireland, France and Canada with her parents who where adventure lovers themselves and worked in aid and development. She spent most of her childhood years in Lesotho and South Africa, where she went to boarding school from the age of 8 to 14. Australia became a permanent base in 1995 when her family moved to Alice Springs, the first port of call in Australia. Since then Theresa has perused many dreams. Having been a horse fanatic since she was 8 and become an accomplished competitive equestrian rider, Theresa perused a career in the horse industry in Australia. In her early 20’s however, she yearned for more. She continued the travelling trend and danced the globe. She lived and worked in Malta, where she taught English and completed a Scubadiving Divemaster internship. She worked on luxury yachts in France, and snowboarded her heart out in the Southern Alps. Theresa also travelled to many more amazing places, including a one year overland journey from Denmark to Malaysia. Wherever Theresa is she always keeps things exciting, persuing things with gusto and life! Theresa started and completed her first year of a Bachelor of Science at James Cook University inTownsville. She completed her second year at Uppsala University in Sweden and moved on to the University of Tasmania, where she completed her final year in 2007 and graduated with a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Geography and Environmental Studies. Although Theresa has a passion for the Environment, she knows working with people, which is more heartfelt for her, is her ultimate goal, wether is be in her own community or globally. Between her outdoor pursuits, which include kayaking, hiking, cycling, bodyboarding, camping and general adventuring, Theresa works at the University of Tasmania as a research assistant in the Centre of Spatial Information Science. Tasmania is her home now and she’s so looking forward to having a base to plonk her hat after all her adventures. ![]() This expedition through Lesotho will fulfil a dream which has been brewing for a long time. Besides undertaking a personal development journey, Theresa hopes to help a country and community for which she feels a real love. The most exciting thing for Theresa about the expedition is seeing those smiling Sotho faces again, and laughing with people who know how to have fun! Its amazing how people who undergo such hardship, as a result of many things including HIV/AIDS, are still able to smile. It’s a good lesson to all of us to appreciate the most simple but precious things in life, not going hungry and supporting our family and friends. This website is an exciting opportunity for us to share Theresa’s adventures with you. We’d love to know who has interest in the site, so please remember to sign the guestbook and say hello.
